I'm guessing Spring has come because my kids have all started up their spring sports, but the weather isn't going along with what the calendar says. Savannah decided this year that she wanted to be on her schools track team. She didn't really know what she wanted to do, but she went out for it anyways and is having a blast! She told me before the first track meet that the coach asked anyone if they were interested in doing the shot put. No one raised their hands, that is why, of course, Savannah and her friend did. So at their very first track meet, having never done it before, Savannah competed in the shot put throw. She came in second!
This is Savannah and her friend Carly right before the first meet, practicing how to throw the shot put.
Luke also is getting into sport this spring and started soccer this week. He really didn't want to play, but Clay wanted him to be involved in a sport that made him run. Luke doesn't like to run very much and looks terrible when he is doing it. Clay is hoping playing soccer will help him learn how to run properly and get him more used to it as well. His first game was last night and of course it rained the entire time. We froze on the side lines while we watched him play but it was worth it because to my surprise, he was actually really good. Luke scored 2 goals during this first game and even though it was freezing and wet, he had a blast and cant wait for the next one.
Brittany and Savannah are also starting up softball again. This will be their 3rd year playing.
Cody is doing baseball again and we just found out that his coach is the same guy who was his football coach. Because they have to try out for baseball this guy, Coach Gary, picked Cody and we found out, a lot of the same boys that were on his football team will also be on his baseball team. Cody is super excited!!!
Clay just found out yesterday that he has to fly to Brisbane Australia for work tomorrow. He will be gone until next Friday. He is pretty excited to go check out Australia because there are a lot of mines out there and that mean a good change we could be transferred out there. He only has one day that he will be able to sight see, but thanks to my Aussie sister-in-law Becky, he has more than enough things to occupy his day with. She has been his personal travel agent, telling him all the different places he should check out and see while he is there. The only bad thing about him going right now is the day after he gets back from Australia is the day we leave for Texas. He is going to be so sick of sitting on planes by the time we are back from our spring break vacation.

Wow, Clay is going to Australia? You neglected to mention this yesterday on the phone! How exciting for him. I would love to go there too.
I am loving that Savannah is willing to learn a sport just because no one else raised their hands. That is hilarious. She is awesome!
Way to go Luke...being good at soccer and all. Jack's team is getting spanked every game. They are not good at all! :)
I texted Savannah good luck and she texted back, who is this, then I went back and said Melinda!, and she came back with my aunt? and then me back um yea! Do your kids really not know me? We may need to get together more often if this is the case. That is really sad.
I hope Clay has a fun time and gets to see as much as possible on his bday.
