Twilight Addict!

I know this is sad, but I can't wait for this movie to come out. My friends and I already have tickets to a twilight party on the day that it is released. You get to see the movie and they have prizes and movie theme games to play. I'm so excited to go. But, I'm also planning on taking my girls to the midnight showing of it the night before it's released. Yes, my husband thinks I'm insane, but I love it and can't help myself :)

I am Marianne Dashwood!

Take the Quiz here!

I took the quiz that Libby had posted on her blog and I wasn't to surprised to find that we were the same person after taking the quiz. This is how they described me...

You are Marianne Dashwood of Sense & Sensibility! You are impulsive, romantic, impatient, and perhaps a bit too brutally honest. You enjoy romantic poetry and novels, and play the pianoforte beautifully. To boot, your singing voice is captivating. You feel deeply, and love passionately.

Ok, well I'll admit I'm pretty much exactly how they described Marianne, except of course I don't play the pianoforte beautifully, and I don't think my singing voice is captivating, decent at best!

UEA Weekend

I think we were one of only a few families that stayed in town for UEA. Because of Clay's very busy work schedule lately we decided to find things to do in Utah that were close to home and fun! Melinda (my sister) and I decided to meet at Thanksgiving Point on Thursday so that we could take the kids to the Scarecrow Festival. Once we got in the older kids took off and Mel and I got to spend the day with Luke, Olivia and Ryan, the three youngest.

This was the first thing the kids wanted to do...Jump!

After getting worn out jumping, they decided it was time to get thier faces painted

Luke got superman painted on his face while Olivia got rainbows

I found the older kids on this trampoline/bungee cord thing

This was by far the best part of the day. The kids loved to do flips and see how high they could jump!

The three younger kids thought the pirates were so cool!
Hanging out with more pirates

Once the older kids saw the younger kids face painting, they had to get one too.
Brittany with a pincess crown

Cody of course got a football helmet.
As we were walking by the pumkin patch we spotted Sean Bradly doing a interview with our local news.
He was so nice, he came over after his interview was over and posed with all the kids for a pictureAfter watching the older kids on the bungee/trampoline, the younger kids wanted a turn.

Since the line was so long to jump, I took Luke and Olivia over to the fishing booth to see what they could catch. Luke got a lizzard, that he named Jacob? I know weird!
As we were walking out I made Luke and Livy posed one last time together in front of this giant spider

The next day Clay took off work and we surprised the kids with a trip to Lagoon! So I know it's not the most exciting place to go, but hey, the kids liked it.

While we were waiting in line for one of the rollercoasters we had to get a treat!
This is luke on Wicked. It's by far the best ride at Lagoon. It was so nice to have all the kids big enough and brave enough to go on every since ride.

Savannah and Clay on the old wooden roller coaster

We asked the kids what they wanted for dinner and they told us carmel apples and sweet rolls. So why not! It's fun this time of year at Lagoon because they try to make it spooky for Halloween. I mean it's no Knott's scary farm, but it's still fun.

On Saturday we took the kids to the Sky Box at the Gateway mall in SLC. This is mine and Clay's favorite restaurant to take the kids too. We always request a seat in their stadium room. This is the coolest place if you want to watch the game and eat some really yummy food. It's all stadium seating, booths of course, and in the front of the room is this huge big screen tv. Of course we went right at kick off time when the Utes were playing Colorado St. But the best part about this place is they have a incrediable game room, far away from where you eat, so we gave each kid a $10 card and they took off to the game room while Clay and I enjoyed eating and watching the game! We call this place the "grown up version of Chuck-y-cheese".
If any of you are wondering where Jessica was this weekend, since she wasn't in any of the pictures, she was with Tyler and his family in So. Cal. They took off on Wed. and got back Sunday afternoon. We missed her terribly and the best part was she missed us as well. She came home and told us how miserable it was going on vacation with another family and she even said she would of rather spent the weekend at her Nana and Papa's house instead of going to California. (mom, I knew you would love to hear that)

Day 2

Here is the latest picture of Jess now that it is day two since her wisdom teeth were extracted.
She is pretty swollen and she says her mouth is throbbing still all the time, but she is able to eat (soup) and she is walking around now, so that is an inprovement.

Poor Jess!

Poor Jess! She had her wisdom teeth pulled this morning and didn't think it was a very neat experience. Thanks to Tyler we were able to get this picture of Jess being wheeled right out of the dentist's office just minutes after her surgery. Can you tell what side of her face they worked on last? It was a pretty ruff morning, with a lot of blood, pain and craziness thanks to all the drugs, but now she is resting quietly and is even asking for some soda. Let's hope the rest of the weekend goes so smoothly!

Police, Firetrucks and pumkin patches, Oh my!

Well it's officially fall because I'm wearing a sweater and going to pumkin patches! I went with Lukes kindergarten class on their fall field trip yesterday and boy am I worn out. 50 kids went and we had about 8 adults. Which was way easier than last year when we only had 3 adults.
Luke was so excited about going and being able to ride the bus. I don't understand what kind of lure this kid has over the girls but you'll see from these pictures, he got something! And he always has. Even when he started preschool he had this little girl name Sofie that liked him the entire year, and he liked her as well. Last year there was a girl named Courtney, this year it's Emma. I'm nervous about this kid become a teenager!

This is Luke feeding Leroy, the 1400 pound pig I laughed so hard when I first saw this picture. I guess Emma found her "pumkins"!
Emma was so cute in this picture. She kept trying to put her arm around Luke's waist, but he would shake it off. She finaly just put her hand around his arm.

After the pumkin patch he headed over to the Fire Dept. Luke got to watch this fireman get into his gear, then he came around for a Hi 5 from all the kids.
This is inside the fire truck. By now Luke was so sick of me making him smile for the pictures this was all he was able to give me.
Behind the truck, and another terrible smile.
The next day I took my scout troop to the police station. The officer that took us on our tour really seemed to favor Cody, I don't know why, but you'll see from these pictures.

He first took us into the booking room and handcuffed Cody and his friend together. Cody playing the part of being sad he was arrested
This is the holding cell they put the "bad guys" in before they interrogate them
This is the interrogation room.
This was the end of the tour. Cody of course was picked to wear the helmet.

Insulin overdoes!

Last night as I was getting ready for bed I heard Clay yell out to me he needs me downstairs right away. I run downstairs to see what the problem was and he began to tell me that Savannah had given herself an injection of the wrong insulin. I'll back up and explain what I mean. Savannah gives herself two different types of insulin everyday. During the day she uses Novolog, this is a fast acting insulin that works in about 10-15 mins. It's good to use during the day because when she needs or whats something to eat she only needs to wait that 10-15 mins after giving herself the insulin before she can eat. This insulin last for about an hour. At night she needs a longer lasting insulin, so that she doesn't have to wake up in the middle of the night and check her bloodsugar and correct it if it is too high. This insulin is Lantis and she gives this to herself everynight before bed.
Now back to the story. After giving herself her insulin she realized she had used the Novolog instead of the Lantis. Her bedtime does is 28 units, this is a lot of insulin, especially a fast acting insulin. Now this is very dangerous because if she doesn't eat enough carbs to balance out this much insulin it would make her bloodsugar levels crash. We immediately found out how many carbs she would have to eat in order to balance out the insulin and found out it was 200 carbs. Just to put this into perspective, she eats around 100 carbs in a normal day. We quickly started searching the pantry trying to find anything high in carbs. Poor Savannah had to drink, yes drink 1/2 cup of syrup, eat 6 bags of fruit snacks and drink 2 cups of milk in order to keep her bloodsugar from crashing. She had a pretty tough time with the syrup and almost threw it up a few times. A hour later we tested her again and her bloodsugar was thankfully in a normal range. I still checked in on her a few times during the night and woke her up to make sure her bloodsugar didn't unexpectedly crash. If her bloodsugar gets really low it would cause her to go into a diabetic shock and we wouldn't be able to wake her up. This was what I was worried about all night long and why I keep going in and making sure I could still wake her up.
This is the first big scare we have had with Savannah since her diagnosis last Feburary. I pray we don't have to go through something like that again, ever!

Weekend with Family

We had a great weekend with Clay's sister Courtney and her family in town from Texas. It started Thursday night when I went down to Orem to my mother-in-laws house to pick up my three niece and nephews. They are 12, 10 and 6 years old and my kids love spending time with them. They spent the night with us and the next day Cody and Brittany were able to go with them to the BYU game in Logan.

Saturday we woke up to rain, and it never stopped. We went to Cody's football game and only lasted for the first half. It was freezing, cold and very wet!

Colton was such a good sport and helped out our team by holding the chains during the first half. It was pouring rain and he got soaked!

The next morning was beautiful and cold. The kids told us that they knew how the pioneers felt that morning because they were so freezing cold. Clay and I just laughed and thought if the pioneers heard that one they would probably be rolling in their graves!

We had our reguar Conference breakfast feast that morning, then enjoyed the morning watching Conference.

Well as you can imagine, the kids didn't last long watching Conference so I took the opportunity to take pictures of what they did during this time.

A little light saber fight on the tramp.

Some video game playing, of course it was Lego's Star Wars.

The older kids played Apples to Apples most of the morning.

This is what our morning looked like on Sunday. Sometimes I have to remind myself why I like living in Utah, well this is one of them. This is right outside my back porch.
After morning conference the whole family came over to watch the afternoon session of conference. This was pretty crazy! Courtney, her husband Trent, thier six kids, Chelsey, Kym and her husband Martin and my mother in law Susan all were there. Courtney's three youngest kids love our dog and spent most of the time chasing him around. After that got old went over to help build trains with Luke and Clay, which of course drove them crazy. And the older kids ran around outside, only to come back covered in mud. After two hours of this it was time for the Kimballs to head to the airport. We had a great weekend with them and hope to get out to Texas this summer to visit them again.
