Cowabunga Bay

For day two of our stay-cation, we took the kids to the newest water park in Utah, Cowabunga Bay. We got there around 11:00 in the morning and thought it would be warm enough, especially since it read 85 degrees in our car. But to our surprise we froze the entire day. The water was freezing and thanks to the cloud cover that would come and go all day long we were cold. We were determined to have fun no matter what, so we sucked it up and spent the day in the water!

The kids were waiting for the giant bucket of water to fall on them

Cody always has a smile on his face, even when he is freezing!

I told Clay that I needed at least one picture with myself in it. In my last few blogs I'm always the one taking the pictures. I need proof that I was there too.

Luke was the one complaining the most about the cold!

The lazy river was the only place that you would not freeze your behind off in. They actually heated the water in that pool. We spent most of the day doing this.

On Saturday, we went back to our old neighborhood in Cedar Hills and had a BBQ dinner with my friend Stephanie and her family. Every year Cedar Hills has an amazing fire works show for the 24th of July celebration. Well, this year they decided to do it in June instead, don't ask me why, but they did. So after dinner and games we watched the fire works from their front yard. This is something that we would do every year when we used to live in Cedar Hills and we actually started it back up last year with our old neighbors and look forward to it every year. Fun times!

Day 1 of the "Stay-cation"

It's finally summer and we are loving it! Clay decided to take Thursday and Friday off from work and we told the kids we were having a "stay-cation". What is that you ask? It's a vacation that you take at home. For our first night we thought it would be fun to camp in the back yard. We set up the tent, got some food to BBQ, turned on some Rascal Flatts, lit the fire and had fun!
The kids were more than willing to help out!

After setting up the tent it was time to sit back, relax and laugh!

BBQ hots dogs were on the menu along with some corn that we cooked on the BBQ as well!

After dinner we entertained ourselves by jumping on the tramp, playing with the dog and singing to the music!

Then of course it was time for the smores!

Doing all this in the backyard, we started to attracted many neighbor kids! Oh well, the more the merrier, right?

Luke started a game called "how many girls can I get to sit in my lap?"

To finish the evening we decided to light some fireworks. I know it's not the 4th yet, but who cares, they were so much fun! Our neighbors saw us doing the fireworks and decided to join us, but they had the cool fireworks that shoot up into the sky. Yes, they are illegal, but the kids thought it was the greatest night ever!

After all the festivities, we tucked ourselves into our tent and went to sleep. No, I slept in my bed! What can I say!

Tomorrow day 2 of the stay-cation.....Cowabunga Bay water park!!

First Stake Dance

My cute, not so little any more, Brittany went to her first stake dance on Saturday night. She was so excited and spend hours prepping to look just right. What we all didn't know was it was a casual dance, I guess they don't expect you to look your Sunday best any more. She didn't care though, the girls she went with were all dressed in dresses too. When she came home she couldn't wait to tell us all about it and how she was asked to dance to one of the three slow songs. It was sweet to see her innocence and excitement over this new adventure in her life. She can't wait until the next one!

Sucky week!

Well last week turned into a week of Doctors office visits and hospital sleep overs. It all started last Sunday, I went to South Jordon to sing in my first performance in the Jenny Philips choir. It was so much fun and the whole fireside is just incredible. On my way home Clay called to tell me that Cody was burning up with a high fever and throwing up. He was fine when I left, so this came completely out of the blue. By Monday he wasn't getting any better so when Clay came home from work he took him to the insta-care close to us. They tested him for Strep and the Swine flu. Since it would take a few days to get the results back I had to call my assistant Den leader in scouts and inform her that I couldn't go to day camp the next day. I was totally upset about this (not)! We got the test results back by Tuesday evening and they were negative, we thought we were out of the woods. But on Weds. night Savannah started complaining of a head ache and feeling like she was going to throw up. By Thursday morning Savannah was throwing up and running a low fever. Because she is diabetic, besides testing her blood sugar you also have to test their key tone levels. Her blood sugar was 596, regular people are around 100. Her key tone level was 5.6, on the emergency card it said if it is over 3.0 to rush them to the emergency room. So before I could even shower and get ready for the day, I was taking Savannah to the emergency room to get checked out.
As soon as we arrived they had her hooked up with 2 iv's that were getting her hydrated and giving her insulin. They figured her pump must of malfunctioned a few days earlier and she wasn't getting insulin for at least 24-48 hours. All of this on top of being sick they wanted to admit her into the hospital right then and there. Because American Fork hospital wont admit anyone under 15 into their ICU they had to transfer her to Primary Children's hospital. So after a few hours in American Fork they transferred her by ambulance to Primary Children's hospital. She spent Thursday and Friday in Salt Lake at the hospital and then finally was able to come back home.
Thursday evening, Clay brought the kids up to help keep Savannah entertained.
Then on Saturday, just as Savannah was starting to feel better, I came down with something that knocked me out for a few days. Poor Clay, I was sick in bed for Father's day. Something must be going around our ward because Clay came home from church after Sacrament and he had the boys with him. Our bishop had cancelled Primary because there were a couple cases of Swine flu in our ward and some parents were freaking out about it being spread at church. Luke of course was so happy!
Hopefully this is all behind us and we all get healthy again and can get back to having a normal summer break!

Happy Birthday Savannah

My youngest daughter turned 13 yesterday! Where has the time gone? Savannah was my "surprise" child that I have to admit I was not too happy about when I first found out I was expecting her. She is the third child in the family and her older sister Brittany, was only 5 months old when I found out I was having her. I was in shock mode for the first four months of my pregnancy, until I had my ultra-sound and found out I was having another girl, my third to be exact, then I was in depression mode!
I was so upset I wasn't having a boy, and it wasn't a very fun pregnancy either because I didn't need anything new, I already had everything I needed for a girl. I was especially not looking forward to having another baby because Brittany had such terrible colic that I was going on 5 months of little to no sleep and couldn't believe I was going to have to go through that again, so soon. Well to my surprise when Savannah was born she was a complete angel and only woke up one time during the night for a bottle. She even slept most of the day.
She is a wonderful addition to our family and I have to say I'm so thankful now that all my girls are older, that they are so close in age to each other. Brittany and Savannah are very close and best friends with each other. It was worth it to have three girls in 3 1/2 years!

This year was Savannah's family party year, so we did our usual, favorite dinner of the birthday child, than a party afterwords. Clay and I had to get her this tee-shirt of a hamster rolling in it's ball. For all of you that know Savannah, you know that she loves her animals. She used to have a hamster that she would let roam the house in it's ball.

Savannah asked for Lego's for her birthday. She explained to me that when she has bad days she would love to have some Lego's to go into her room and build anything she wants, to help cheer her up. Unfortunately, they did not arrive in the mail before her birthday, so I had to print out a picture of the set I bought and I put it in a bag for her to unwrap. She still is so young, I love it!

Of course turing 13, what else do you get but more clothes!

Savannah asked for a i-pod and it was so fortunate for us that we had Clay's old one just lying around. So we wrapped it up and gave it too her!
Besides clothes, Lego's and an old i-pod she also got a necklace from her Aunt Kym with an "S" on it. It is so cute and went perfectly with her new clothes. The good thing is I can also where the necklace too! Yea

Happy Birthday Savannah!

Now, I need to write about other things that have been going on since school let out. I met up with my sister Melinda a few times for lunch in Orem. This last time we took the kids to see the movie Up.

Here we are at California Pizza Kitchen before the movie. Our kids love to get together and always complain when the day is over that they need to spend more time with them.

Cody made it to the Championship play-offs in baseball this year. Unfortunately, they lost their last game and came in 2nd place. You just can't win them all!

Cody didn't mind though, because 2nd or 1st place, it didn't matter you still got a trophy! Now he is looking forward for football to start up!

Just one more funny thing I have to put in so that I don't forget it. Luke has been complaining every Sunday about going to church. He finally asked us last week "when is it break for church"? Clay and I just looked at him puzzled and he said "you know how it's break for school, when is it break for church?" We couldn't help but laugh, he thought because it was summer break for school that it should be summer break for church. When we explained there wasn't a summer break for church he got even more upset. We'll have to bring that one up with President Monsen and see what he has to say about it.
